Here’s what you need to do once you’ve bought that pre-owned car.
Schedule an Inspection
You need to have your car inspected so that it can be cleared to operate on the road. Not having a current inspection sticker can result in a ticket. Plus, this is also a good time for the mechanic to check in on all of your car parts and systems to determine if you’ll need any additional maintenance soon. It pays to keep on top of such things.
Transfer the Title
You also need to transfer the title so that it’s in your name. Usually, this is taken care of by the dealership when we handle your paperwork, so just make sure that you keep everything that we give you in a safe place after the sale is wrapped up.
Register Your Vehicle
You must register your vehicle with the state so that it’s in your name. This usually comes with a fee, but it will be a while before you have to pay for a renewal. Registerin also meansobtaining your license plates and everything else that you need to hit the road.
Get Insurance
You’ll also need to finalize your insurance coverage before you start driving. There are some types of coverage that are going to be required by the state, but there are also optional types of coverage that you should be able to add on. Take a close look at all your options and find the coverage that works for you.
