If you’re in the market for a new truck, you may not consider fuel economy a top concern. Fortunately, many of the RAM trucks for sale here at I.G. Burton Chrysler Dodge Jeep® RAM of Smyrna actually offer better gas mileage than you might expect. These trucks don’t sacrifice any of their capability for better MPG, but they won’t have you stopping at the gas station constantly either.
2022 RAM 1500
The 2022 RAM 1500 offers a variety of engine, cab, and drivetrain options, so your gas mileage is going to vary based on a few factors. However, generally the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel® V6 engine is going to be your most efficient option. Let’s look at all of the available engines and their maximum fuel economy rating, according to EPA estimates:
- EcoDiesel® V6 engine: 23 miles per gallon in cities and 33 miles per gallon on highways
- Pentastar® V6 engine: 20 miles per gallon in cities and 25 miles per gallon on highways
- HEMI® V8 engine: 15 miles per gallon in cities and 22 miles per gallon on highways
There’s also a supercharged HEMI® engine available for the RAM 1500 TRX, but this 702-horsepower monstrosity isn’t meant to deliver great gas mileage!
2022 RAM 2500 and 2022 RAM 3500
These larger trucks are not evaluated by the EPA for their gas mileage. There is some data out there about their engines and gas mileage though. The 2022 RAM 2500 can travel up to 12 miles per gallon in cities and 18 miles per gallon on highways with its diesel engine, according to some data. The larger 2022 RAM 3500 can travel up to 16 miles per gallon on highways when equipped with its diesel engine.
